Pike Place Market in Seattle is one of my favorite places to go in the world. Granted I haven't been to very many places, but some of them include the Colosseum in Rome, Glacier National Park, New York City, and my own mind, so that makes Pike Place pretty cool. I guess. If you've been there and you enjoy huge crowds of people and fishy smell, then you totally know what I mean! Pike Place is amazing.

All right guys, it's a quick one from me this week, as I am a nice pile of stress due to my car deciding to die on my way home from work earlier this week, and now it is being sold for scrap! Alas, it's always sad when you lose a good friend... I mean car. Anyway I'm sure we've all been there, and when I'm feeling particularly stressed out or vexed or just full of ennui, I listen to good music. Who doesn't?

This may sound dorky, but one of the coolest things I've found about moving to a big city (well, "big" in comparison to every single city in Montana, where I used to live) is that there are Portland street style blogs! Pretty sure Missoula didn't have much street style to begin with, so moving to a city where people have personal style is a special treat for me. My favorite Portland street style blog is Urban Weeds, run by photographer Lisa Warninger.

Ever since I heard about terrariums about a year ago, I can't quite get the idea of them out of my head. I've been meaning to make one of my own, but kept putting it off. When my mom suggested writing about succulent terrariums for the B.Log, I got a burst of motivation. I'm thinking I'll make one this weekend and bring it in to work to sit on my desk! I also went a bit crazy searching for pictures of interesting terrariums, so here are some of my favorites.

I love odd photo blogs and hot dudes. Do you like odd photo blogs and hot dudes? If you do, and if you especially like long-dead hot dudes in sepia tones, you will love this tumblr: My Daguerreotype Boyfriend. Not only does it feature photos of attractive menz from the past, but the photos are fascinating. Robert Cornelius's self-portrait from the 1830s (the last photo seen here) is one of the first ever photographs of a human. How cool is that?

You know what I'm talking about. It happens to us all. The dreaded late summer doldrums, the moment when we're no longer over the moon about being out of school, we've eaten all the ice cream and floated all the rivers and napped on all the beaches, and now we just want something to do. Luckily this moment hasn't happened yet, at least I should hope not, but for future reference I'm making a list of all the ways we can amuse ourselves over the summer when everything seems dull and done to death.

Due to magical and fortuitous circumstances, I was recently able to attend the Modified Style Portland Fun(d)raiser Fashion Show, thanks to the lovelies at Blowfish Shoes! Myself and a guest were invited to attend, so I brought my bestie Rose with me to see what it was all about. Turns out it was a super fun and amazing experience, but what else can you expect from Portland?

I've always found myself fascinated with Japanese styles (okay not always -- ever since my anime phase in college, if you must know). There seem to be so many completely inspiring, individual and crazy personal styles going on in Japanese street style; it's amazing. You just don't see that kind of thing in the States, at least I never have, although I haven't been everywhere (yet!). Some of my favorite Japanese styles are reminiscent of ages past, like Grimoire and Mori Girl.

Here's a little something I've decided to call Hats and Haikus, a summery straw theme for you today! I'm aching for summer, despite my aversion to sunlight and hot temperatures. There's just something about it...
